Wu-yi tea,Wu long tea,Oolong tea - What will they do for me?

Wu-yi tea, Wu-long tea and Oolong tea (which are all basically the same) have been getting a lot of publicity over the
last few years! Why? For being an amazing weight loss supplement.

                                       But does it really work?

Wu-yi simply refers to a tea that was traditionally grown in the Wuyi
Mountains of the Fujian province of China.Like many other natural
organic products,Wu-yi tea has been used for many thousands of years in traditionalChinese medicine. So really there is nothing new about this tea."It's as old as the hills".

The main substance that has attracted the attention of weight loss experts is a kind of natural chemical called a "polyphenol".

A polyphenol is an antioxidant that can trigger the human enzymes responsible for dissolving some of the natural fat in our bodies known as triglycerides. Apart from being a weight loss supplement, Wu-yi tea also contains another antioxidant called catechin, which has been found to be beneficial for the heart.

But why should we drink Wu-yi tea as opposed to other teas like green tea or black tea? Well, very simply, the concentration of polyphenol in Wu-yi tea is greater than that in other teas

But will Wu-yi tea (or Wu long tea, or Oolong tea or what ever else you want to call it) help me lose weight?
Well, here is a fact.

One cup of Wu-yi tea can help burn off up to about 100 calories which is roughly equivalent to half a donut. Now, of course, 100 calories lost is better than 100 calories gained, but one doesn't have to be a brilliant mathematician to work out that to lose a reasonable amount of weight in a reasonable time period you are going to have to drink about 5-10 cups a day (as well as eating a healthy diet).

Many people find drinking 5-10 cups of Wu-long tea each day an inconvenience. In response, manufacturers eager to take advantage of the benefits Wu-yi tea could provide to the slimming market started to put Wu-yi tea extracts into easy-to-take capsule and tablet forms.

All was well on the Wu-yi tea front for a number of years with manufacturers formulating and marketing Oolong tea extracts to a demanding weight-loss market. Then came the Wu-yi-tea bombshell. In the summer of 2007, Dr Nicholas Perricone published his now famous book The Perricone Promise proclaiming the existence of a berry that was the ideal fruit which would aid anyone to shed those unwanted calories.

Within months of The Perricone Promise being released, the acai berry and acai berry extracts became the world's number one weight loss supplement. It almost pushed the benefits of Wu-long tea into the history books, until researchers realized what could be gained by combining the wonderful benefits of this "new kid on the block" (the acai berry) with the time-honored advantages of the traditional Wu-yi, Oolong or Wu-long tea.

And that is how ' Acai Burn' was born!
